classic Sci-fi.

The idea that you must first sacrifice for country in order to participate in shaping it later was really intriguing for me.

This book is one of Sci Fi's classics.

My favorite Heinlein book followed shortly by Moon is a Harsh Mistress. an interesting look at interstellar war.

Excellent book, with a great look into the life of a soldier, the nature of war, and a better democracy (democracy of those who would defend it)

I agree - forget the movie: As much about responsibility and what it means to grow up as it is about war. Everyone should read it.

Forget the movie; this is the original. A dissertation on war and violence couched in the frame of a war between humans and aliens. A true classic.
