The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time)

The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time)

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Kaelten
While I give props to the guy for the sheer volume of writing, I could never make it past the first quarter. His writing style is way to laborious for my taste.

Fantasy at its finest. Look past the quirky parts that geeks love for a thrilling and engaging ride that never ends. Slightly misogynistic, be warned.

Beginning of a great series! Jordan is the new Tolkien. Although you need to "get" the story to really enjoy the later books.

Ellsworth
I have read 7 or 8 of these books, and I always finish wondering why I started. Short version is, women fix skirts, men are all oblivious. Skip this one.

This was the good one. Read this one and stop, because it all goes downhill from here.

As long as you can tolerate bland characters, a lot of them. In case you don't understand, I mean hundreds and hundreds of inconsistent characters.

Okay so the series as a whole is a flop... this book individually is fantastic! the whole series is for the first 4 books or so....

Lizelle
I actually listened to The Wheel of Time on tape.. It was really excellent! Highly recommend it. Quite long (over 20 hours of tape!) but well worth the read.

WizardofWestmarch
First in a long series, introduces the reader to a facinating world full of a variety of characters. Good, though later in the series the quality drops.

Guillotine
The first book in an AMAZING series.

Julia
While I grew tired of the series by book 8, the first one was captivating. But you can't read it without needing to continue, so be wary.

#nhurst
A good story but it's quality gets dragged down by all the baggage of the later stories.
