Sure, it's formulaic, but anything with ninjas and a little epic theme song thrown in for kicks doesn't hurt. Definitely worth a viewing.

Despite the historical inaccuracy it is a beautiful movie. I loved the scenes in the japanese village as a strong contrast to the Moloch Yokohama.

Tom is the washed-up lion of war who's enlisted to teach a bunch of Japanese conscripts to stamp out the pesky Samurai. He realises they're ok and defects.
