The follow-up to 2005's "Alligator" is filled with lush arrangements and sees the band incorporating new instrumentation and expanded musical elements such as piano, trumpet, and more prominent background vocals.

Wry and crushing. Orchestrated within an inch of its life while still posessing the energy of a breakup note hitting a hungover mind like a depth charge.
Great music by The National. It took some time for me to really love the album but now that I listened to it a lot it's amazing!
Indeed best album of year. They're also amazing live too.
