I think this album is uneven, being Beck's "Blood On The Tracks", but the track "Lost Cause" kills me every single time I hear it. Laudable.

Side B of this summer's soundtrack.
Mellow Gold by Beck
Beck's decadent, Prince-esque late 90s party! More cohesive than his previous work; more danceable too. Slow but still ripping finale with the awesome 'Debra'.
He decided to go back to his early 90s mixing persona, but that style hasn't aged too well. Not bad, but if you expect new things from him, they're not here.
Sea Change by Beck
Not so playful this time, Beck throws some melancholy and classic songwriting for a beautiful breaking up album. Not his best, but this one has genuine soul.
Mellow Gold by Beck
Being close to 'Loser' may make everything else lose interest, but it's a terrific record that showcases Beck's learning, daringly mixing diverse material.
Freaky, pop culture obsessed white LA kid throws all the 20th century music in the blender and comes up with a new, improved mix. He was the 90s. Essential.
