Jon Krakauer

Into the Wild

"just enough details to paint the scene, and a believable take on what happened at the bus. krakauer treats the subject with respect, not derision" – yakfur

Excellent documentation of this story... I don't want to get all mushy about the McCandless tragedy, but it inspired me and validated what I was feeling already.

I loved this book. John Krakauer pretty much turned me into an armchair Mountaineer. This book is also highly debated regarding the account of the 96 disaster.

Simply too much filler, and not enough Chris.

A riveting account of the 1996 Everest Disaster, and a great insight into the human mind during times of great stress.

Incredibly moving portrait of idealism in conflict with pragmatism. Inspiring but when you decide to buck civilization, be sure you know how to preserve meat.

I've read it in a couple of days. The Chris McCandless' odyssey is terribly fascinating and inspiring. This book is a perfect complement to Sean Penn's movie.
