Reading this now. Very easy to get into, very easy to love. It feels very like a memoir...or two memoirs...

The kind of book that has substance and story-telling in it.

I would like to see a teenage boy review this. Excellent character development and color.

loved the beginning, then it devolved into another 'man out of place' novel. The Middle Eastern thing was done better in House of Sand and Fog.

Kites may be a combative metaphor, but Hosseini uses them to bring out a sense of bonding that inspires hope.

Very good book, excellent story, but still takes second place to A Thousand Splendid Suns. Very emotional and informative about Afghanistan as a country.

I read this before I read the Kite Runner, and I think it's the better of the two. A great tale of a woman's place in a fundamentalist Muslim community.

Really good, but since I pretty much bawled through the whole book it made my husband say "WHY are you reading that??" repeatedly. Still an incredible story.

Great writing, but a very sad story. Though fiction, very educational about the events in Afghanistan leading up to 9/11.

While this was easy to get into and through, it just left me feeling so depressed. (Even though I'm pretty sure they were going for a happy ending...)

such a great read. it's extremely well written, which makes it one of those books you don't want to put down and don't want to end.

Don't want to see the film yet, in case it spoils it! Loved this. Thought it was a memoir for much of it, it was so authentic.
