Orson Scott Card

Ender's Game (The Ender Saga)

"A classic. An exercise in writing simplicity while still maintaining story complexity. A story for children without losing maturity. STILL worth the acclaim." – Bob

Ender's Game

"A book of its time, when video games were the future. Ages well, and could be read as the sci-fi Harry Potter, as plot elements are similar. Sequel deeper." – ricoeurian

Shadow of the Hegemon (Ender, Book 6)

"This novel is a little like the game Risk, but with fun characters. Listen to it rather than read it, it is much better that way." – pmthecat

A bit too simplistic (kinda like a kids book) for me. I MUCH preferred Card's Tales of Alvin Maker series...

While Card may be a jackass, this is still one of the best SF books of the last 50 years.

Ender's Game is one of my favorite sci-fi books ever. It's unique and intelligent, and way way way ahead of it's time.

One of my all-time favorites. Same for many or most of the people I've recommended it to: all current/former precocious children.

An incredible imagining of what it would be like for a boy genius to wage an interstellar war.

The best ever sci-fi books. The first one being the best of them all.

It loses something when you reread it. You notice its flaws, its shallow characterization. This book changed me as a child, but now I'm indifferent towards it.

One of the genre defining sci-fi stories that has grabbed my attention - now if only I can get my copy back my friend.

I breathed this in. Amazing science fiction with lots of interesting ideas over the entire series.

If you like scifi, you'll love these. The first books are some of the best in the genre, the later ones can be a bit slow but very worth reading.
